Domestic phosphate rock quotes held steady on 4 September: Hubei 28% at RMB 950-980/t and Mabian 25% at RMB 650-680/t. January-July imports reached 1.0157 million tonnes.

Controls on agricultural phosphate fertiliser exports expired on 31 August, and filing resumed on 1 September under a licence-plus-annual-quota model.

SunSirs quotes put nano-grade PCC (98%, 1,200 mesh) at RMB 1,350/t against RMB 480-500/t for industrial grade. The gap comes down to specs.

Nanzhao County in Henan will clean up its calcium powder and stone clusters: 14 firms must dismantle equipment by end-September, and 69 must upgrade pollution controls.

A full-scope breakdown of imported phosphate rock landed cost — cargo value, freight, clearance, FX and VAT — and how buyers avoid losing margin to hidden costs.

From the sulphur shortage to higher phosphoric acid and DAP prices, how costs pass down the chain to the buyer, and what buyers can do about it.

Egypt has halted new phosphate rock export contracts while Jordan has resumed supply to China, shifting the Middle East sourcing landscape. How should importers adjust their procurement strategy?

Mysteel weekly data shows Chinese CFR quotes for 26–27% P2O5 phosphate rock from Egypt holding at USD 90–95/t, with the domestic market soft and stable. With weak downstream demand and high imported ore prices, buyers should…

The Mineral Resources Law Implementation Regulations took effect on 15 June, listing phosphate rock as a national strategic mineral, capping 2026 output at 145 million tonnes and banning direct export of high-grade ore. Buyers should lock…

GCC capacity above 52 million tonnes with utilisation below 70% drives a low-end price war, while food and pharma grade demand grows 15-20% a year.

Through H1 2026 the phosphate rock market stayed in a tight balance with prices holding high, and in June rock was designated a national strategic mineral. This article reviews the latest prices, output, grades and new…
The value of mineral news is not knowing what happened, but knowing what it means for your sourcing. Read with three questions in mind: does this affect total supply, the price level, or the compliance barrier? The response differs in each case.
Export restrictions, licensing or contract suspensions directly reshape the available supply. Three layers matter: does the policy cover all grades or specific ones; are already-signed contracts affected; and where would replacement supply come from, at what haul distance? When high-grade exports tighten, some demand shifts to lower grades and the cost structure changes along the chain. The right response is to reassess the sourcing mix, not to judge the price direction.
Utilisation of domestic mines, seaborne arrivals and fertiliser plant run-rates reflect actual domestic demand. For importers these are leading indicators of whether a short-term shortage is likely. Monthly swings in arrivals are especially worth tracking: they show both supply rhythm and inventory behaviour along the trading chain.
Sulphur, sulphuric acid and natural gas feed into the chain: additives → phosphoric acid → fertiliser → ore demand. Sulphur tightness, for example, raises acid costs, then fertiliser costs, and ultimately changes how much ore buyers want to hold. Such pass-through is usually lagged but directionally clear, so acting early on inventory and procurement beats reacting late.
The action after reading is to return to your own spreadsheet: recompute landed cost at current prices, re-rank your sourcing mix under the new policy, and recalculate sailing windows against freight moves. If a news item changes none of these three, its value to your procurement is limited.
